Founded in May 1989, WTM provides independent IT management consulting services to industry, government and international IT companies. WTM is a sole proprietorship operated by Peter Westwood. As a result, unlike other management consulting companies, WTM's consulting assignments are only undertaken by a very senior, seasoned roll up the sleeves IT practitioner.

Mr. Westwood gives recommendations that make business sense, and delivers projects that meet their objectives. He has a unique combination of successful business and management experience, a strong technical background, with an excellent understanding of how IT and IT vendors can help an organization. He has an outstanding track record of results.

With over 25 years of successful experience in the computer and communications field, much of it at a senior management level, Mr. Westwood has excellent communication and people management skills.

He has directed implementation projects as large as $10 million and managed as many as 100 people. He has been directing e- business projects since 1996.

Projects that he has led have resulted in a number of awards for his clients, including Windows/Comdex (Bill Gates actually presented this award), US Banking Administration Institute Retail Banking Software winner and a Canadian Information Productivity award. Mr. Westwood has directed projects for industries such as banking, utilities, telecom, computer, software and government. The types of projects that he has undertaken include preparation of strategic plans, process improvement, marketing studies, custom and packaged software development and implementation.

Prior to founding his consultancy, Mr. Westwood was the C. O. O. of a $15 million software company with clients in 25 countries. He rose to that position from first the position of Director Product Development; then founding and heading up the Messaging software division which grew profitably from 4 to 80 people in just 4 year.

He has given over 20 speeches and papers at international conferences on strategic information systems.

Currently Mr. Westwood is a member of the B. C. Science Councils Computers and Computing Committee responsible for the recommendations for the Technology BC grants. Immediately prior to that he was a founding member of the Board of Directors of the B. C. Technology Industries Association for over 5 years. He has an Executive MBA, as well as a B. Sc. and a B. A.

Senior IT Management Contract Services Project Director leading the planning, vendor selection, and vendor management for a Canada wide custom developed system. The technologies include: Internet, client/server, data warehouse.

Director, R&D, financial software; leading the development of the first e-business product; introduced software development project management processes, recruited full-time Director.

V-P R&D banking software, developing client server & Internet enterprise wide core banking systems and toolkit. Grew the division from 15 to 40 staff, customers in 27 countries.

V-P Data Communications overseeing the management of a large heterogeneous LAN/WAN network (over 5, 000 desktop devices, 80 LANs, dial-up to T1 communications). Directed the redesign of the networks necessitated by the relocation of the head-office.

Senior Project Manager leading the planning, vendor procurement, and overall management of a large AS400 and associated network and desktop devices (over 1, 000 desktop devices).

Senior Product Manager determining e-mail directory strategy for a major e-mail software vendor. Establishing a strategic partnership with a European developer.

Project Management Services Directing, for industries such as banking, utilities, telecom, computer, software and government, projects that include:

preparation of strategic plans, RFP preparation and evaluation management, process re-engineering, marketing studies, custom and packaged software development and implementation. The largest project was over $10 million.

Implementation projects include: e-business, Internet, multi- tier enterprise client server (Windows 95/NT), data mart, data communications, networking infrastructure, mid-range (Unix and proprietary) and mainframe (IBM) platforms.

As V-P R&D led the development of a $4 million set of projects resulting in a new product line - Windows NT open client-server & Internet toolset, new Lending application, re-engineered including GUI Deposits application, Data Mart, Internet personal banking system.

Managing a benchmark project, certified by EDS, demonstrating that Windows NT banking software, with a realistic mix of both on-line and batch transactions, could handle the business load resulting from a 10 million customer database, being concurrently accessed by over 10, 000 users at PCs and 2, 500 customers at ATMs.

Teaching Project Management at a university, running project planning sessions, giving project management seminars and providing project manager 'mentoring' services.

Directing the implementation of Canadas first (1996) operational Internet personal banking system.

Managing product development partnerships with companies from Canada, U. S., Japan and Australia.

Implementing improved product development processes.

Managing IT Outsourcing Contracts RFP development, proposal evaluation, vendor management for a $10 million plus development, operation and support outsourcing contract.

Bid consulting services to a major outsourcing vendor that resulted in a $15 million banking ASP contract.

Selection, contract negotiation, and management of a vendor to provide the hardware and system software, and on-going support of such, for a new major billing system ($6 million plus procurement).

Management of a vendor providing systems and network facilities management services ($5 million contract).

Selection of vendors, including contract negotiation, to provide library automation software and computing system ($1 million procurement).

Business strategies planning services to IT facilities management services vendor.

Preparation of strategic IT plans including outsourcing strategy.

Strategic business advisory services to an MIS group planning to enter the outsourcing business.

Business Development Obtaining funding and establishing a software development company.
