Getting infrastructure rehabilitation programs implemented on ground in Iraq is a high risk and a big challenge for international contracters and services providers due mainly to deferences in mentality and the use of modern projects implementation methodologies, thus introducing a need for open minded Iraqi-North American local partners to act in the middle fulfilling stakeholders needs and achieving projects objectives. In 2005 WATERTON have succeeded in managing several water networks distribution projects in Iraq funded by US Army Corps of Engineers through providing PMI standards project management methodologies using virtual / electronic communication resources in Canada and by cooperating with professional local Iraqi sub-contractors whom have the technical skills and the access to work in several religious locations that were considered high risk for any other outsider to work in. We managed to have site visits in Iraq and conducted several coordination meetings there and in neighboring Jordan. Our success in this field encouraged Sigmainvest, a Czech republic industrial firm to acquire our services to provide local services in Iraq as well. We trust that Iraq re-construction efforts is a very wide and fruitful business and with the high reputation that Canadian products and services have in Iraq, we believe having economical bridges between both countries has a high potential for profitable businesses in short and long terms.
