The Extension Division, University of Saskatchewan has been actively involved in the delivery of extension and continuing education programs since 1910. More recently, the Extension Division has made a concentrated effort to broaden its delivery of these programs through distance education. The majority of the courses being currently delivered by distance are still print-based. However, there is now a move to develop more courses that will be delivered through the Internet.
The Extension Division is also pursuing the establishment of a Centre for Distributed Learning that will involve its Instructional Design Group and its Distance Education programmers to enhance online learning and increase the numbers of university courses (degree, certificate, and non-credit) that are to be delivered online.
