Since its inception in 1989, TOURISM TRAINING INSTITUTE has trained over 4000 Canadian and international students from two campuses in the Greater Vancouver area of British Columbia to become trousim professionals worldwide. TTI is proud to be an accredited institution by the Private Career Training Institutions Agency of British Columbia, a regulatory body. TOURISM TRAINING INSTITUTE was created in direct response to the human resource development needs of the hospitality and tourism industry. To this day, TTI meets with employers in the industry to closely match the competency level required to be successful on the job. In cooperation with external agencies, TTI offers a variety of certificate courses -- Foodsafe, Serving It Right, Standard First Aid, A-1 Basic Safety, Advanced Wilderness First Aid, Marine Radio Operators License, among others.
Certificate courses in basic language training (Spanish, Japanese, French, German, etc) to supplement and complement technical skills of TTI students. English as a Second Language is offered off-campus in partnership with Pacific Gateway International College and Vanwest College.
TTI offers continuing education courses and professional development to people already employed in the hospitality and tourism industry through a) ACCESS-approved courses in Destinations, Automation and Sales & Ticketing, b) a partnership agreement with the Educational Institute of the American Hotel and Motel Association.
TTI offers an integrated applications program geared towards the tourism industry -- Airline Computerized Reservation System, Word Processing, Database, Spreadsheet, Multimedia Presentation, Navigating the Internet, Hotel Computerized Reservation System.
In partnership with external agencies, TTI offers a variety of certificate courses aimed at developing customer service skills -- SuperHost Fundamentals, Japanese Service Expectations, Managing Customers with Disabilities, Service Across Cultures.
One and two week itineraries incorporate learning English to improve reading, writing and conversational skills as well as exploring nature and sightseeing activities in Canada. Basic and Management levels available.
TTI has been successful in working with federal and provincial programs for human resource development -- TOURISM WORKPLACE TRAINING PROGRAM under the auspices of the Pacific Rim Institute of Tourism and UNITED WE CAN under the Canada Jobs Strategy.
TTI currently holds the contract to develop and implement the BC province-wide travel insurance licensing exam as mandated by legislation and has since processed over 3000 examinees.
