Thermo-Cell was originally established as Thermo-Cell Insulation in 1977 primarily to produce loose-fill cellulose insulation. In 1995 the company name was changed to Thermo-Cell Industries to reflect its expansion into the recycling business as well as the expansion of its manufacturing facilities to produce specialty fibres and hydraulic mulch. Thermo-Cell is currently one of the largest manufacturers of cellulose insulation in Canada and is a leader in the manufacturing of low density insulation using state of the art technology. The company is also a leader as it relates to R&D activities and expanding the product's areas of application in the construction industry through the use of government testing and approvals.
The company operates two manufacturing facilities (Orleans, Ontario and Debert, Nova Scotia) and actively markets its products under the 'Weathershield Insulation' label throughout central and eastern Canada and the northeastern United States.
The company manufactures according to the ISO 9002 quality assurance model and is certified by the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB). Thermo-Cell was also one of the first companies to have its product (Weathershield Insulation) listed by Environment Canada under the Environmental Choice Program.
