Socioeconomic Assessment and Management Praxis conducts socioeconomic (SIA) impact assessments, fiscal impact and cost/benefit analyses of development projects. Projects include renewable and non-renewable resource extraction and development; tourism; manufacturing and processing; and irrigation and hydroelectric projects. Projects assess parameters such as demography, economic and employment impacts, community services, infrastructure and quality of life of communities. The purpose is to forecast the nature and extent of direct, indirect and induced workforce impacts resulting from a proposed development and its ongoing operations.

Capacity Building and Training Workshops Paxis conducts training courses and workshops and capacity building programs on social and economic impact assessment and public consultation. These programs are delivered both domestically and internationally.
Specialized Community and Survey Research Praxis plans, administers and analysers survey processes and questionnaires for a variety of needs, using a range of methodologies. We have the expertise to conduct conventional surveys as well as use more specialized methods such as the Delphi process based on the client's needs. Using sophisticated search and statistical software, and Praxis' Qualitative Data Management System (QDMS) we have the capability to analyse both quantitative and qualitative data. Praxis has specialized experience in using surveys to identify issues or public perceptions and attitudes as part of community needs assessments or larger public processes. Many statistically valid surveys have been undertaken for Parks Canada under the auspices of often related to the significant impacts of growth in the area.
