  Whether or not your company is a public company or privately held a good advisory board or board of directors can be key if not critical to the success of your company. A properly constituted board provides support and mentoring for the CEO and a valuable sounding board for the company. The key is properly constituted. Properly constituted both in terms of the people who are on it and in the definition of the roles of the board and its individual members.
