About StakeTech The Company
StakeTech solves environmental problems by supplying the pulp and paper and specialty chemical industries with cleaner technology and by providing recycling alternatives to the steel and foundry industries. StakeTech has developed, owns and markets a proprietary technology called Continuous Steam Explosion, enabling the substitution of low cost raw material for the production of pulp for paper, food additives, and specialty chemicals. Our Barnes Environmental International division provides specialty products and services to the steel and foundry industries.
Proprietary Technology StakeTech's Continuous Steam Explosion technology provides industry with a new low cost and environmentally friendly route to such products as pulp for paper, cellulose derivatives for food application, and specialty chemicals The Company's system uses high pressure steam to free the cellulose from materials such as wood, straw and sugarcane bagasse. The high temperature of the process eliminates or greatly reduces the requirements for using chemicals associated with current industrial practices.
Why Is It Unique? The uniqueness of the technology derives from the Company's specialized equipment that can continuously inject fibrous materials into a digester pressurized at between 200 to 450 psig with high pressure steam and then explode the product out. No other equipment is able to do this.
What Does It Do? The main components of fibrous materials, such as wood and straw, are cellulose and lignin. In nature, the lignin acts as a glue and binds the cellulose chains together. In order to utilize these fibres, it is necessary to separate the lignin from the cellulose. In the past, it has only been possible to break the bonding between the cellulose and the lignin through very expensive and highly polluting chemical pulping processes. The StakeTech process can break the bond between the cellulose and the lignin using only high pressure steam - this is the breakthrough.
The Company is focusing on marketing this technology in three main areas:
High Yield Pulping from non-woody material Fractionation Cellulose Derivatives
