Capnoxygen Mask
The Capnoxygen Mask incorporates a bevel tip sample tube in the mid dome of a medium concentration oxygen mask. Simply connect the male end of the sample line, from any sidestream CO2 Capnoxygen Mask. Position the Mask on the patient so as to approximate the sample tube above the patient's mouth, and obtain a baseline exhaled CO2 reading. Using a normal oxygen flow rate of three to six liters per minute you can establish a trend with which to monitor breathing consistently during mouth and/or nose breathing.
At any time during monitoring, and by briefly interrupting oxygen flow into the mask (two or three breaths), Baseline CO2 can be verified to reflect any changes in validation.
With systems which determine inspired oxygen concentration via the CO2 sample in line, the Capnoxygen Mask allows inspired oxygen determination.
