The SABER (Sampling Autonomous Buoy for Evidence Recovery) uses standard sonobuoy technology. Sonobuoys are aircraft-launched devices originally employed in submarine detection by navies. Once deployed, the sample collection chamber that floats on the surface can be retrieved by ship or aircraft using GPS and a VHF radio beacon to locate.
The SABER is a tool to be used in pollution surveillance, deterrence and prosecution, as well as in oil spill research and development.
Seimac's Self-Locating Datum Marker Buoy (SLDMB) is an air or ship deployable GPS location sensor configured with an ARGOS satellite transmitter that will continuously monitor and transmit its position to a Rescue Coordination Centre.
SLDMB offers maritime Searcha nd Rescue (SAR) teams a powerful new tool to significantly limit search area size. Comprised of an air/ship deployable, GPS positioning beacon and AROGS satellite data transmitter, the SLDMB has benn extensively tested and proven to drift with the same trajectory as a life raft or person in water.
