People are often surprised to hear that SMC is the world's largest manufacturer of pneumatic components. But the fact is, we have been in business since 1959, and we currently employ 11, 000 people worldwide, in manufacturing, engineering and administration facilities in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

In 1977, we established our North American Headquarters in, Indianapolis, Indiana, U. S. A.. This facility, currently expanding to well over 300, 000 sq ft serves as U. S. A. Headquarters for manufacturing, design, engineering, sales and technical support. Los Angeles, California also serves as a major manufacturing and design base. Other important North American sites include manufacturing bases in Mexico City, Mexico, and Toronto, Ontario, (Canada).

The year 1996 represents the start of a new era for SMC Canada, with the opening in January 1996 of a new 100, 000 sq ft manufacturing, design and support facility in Toronto, Ontario. This new facility will also serve as SMC Canada's headquarters. Supporting branch offices are located in Montreal, Vancouver, and Windsor.

We believe that the closer we get to our customers, the better we can serve them. That's why our sales network is the most extensive organization of branch offices and technical sales engineers in the pneumatics industry today, And we have knowledgeable stocking distributors located in virtually every major industrial city.
