Recovery Technologies, a division of KTI Recycling of Canada, Inc. has established a worldwide reputation for its turnkey Cryogenic tire recycling systems, and operates its own tire recycling facility in Cambridge, Ontario. Our facilities are capable of reducing tires to crumb size by using a patented and proprietary Cryogenic Process.

Recovery Technologies' strategy is to develop and manufacture energy efficient, cost competitive, cryogenic size reduction systems for sale on a turnkey basis outside of North America, and to own and operate rubber tire recycling facilities in North America, processing scrap tires and selling recovered rubber granules as well as producing new products utilizing rubber granules.

The key to Recovery Technologies' system is the efficient use of nitrogen, which reduces the requirement for electricity/horsepower and generates a cost and revenue advantage compared to alternate size reduction methods. Also, the capital cost of a complete system is generally lower than competing methods of producing a wide range of rubber granules. The RECLAPROCESSOR TM system uses liquid nitrogen to freeze the shredded tire parts below the rubber's brittleness temperature and then fracture the frozen parts into rubber granules, steel, and fibre. The result is a clean separation of steel, fibre, and rubber in various sizes. The smooth surface generated by the cryogenic process is advantageous in compounding operations where chemical bonding and cross-linking are required. The processed product is unaltered in its chemical composition and is an excellent basic building block for value-added products, such as tires, asphalt, sport surfaces, sealants, moulded rubber articles, rubber and plastic combinations, spray on coatings, adhesives, and auto parts.
