For over fifteen years Protoplast Inc. has built a business on the benefits of aluminum in mould making. Since 1981, we have served the needs of automotive, medical, household and electronic industries. We are now proud to be one of Canada's leading manufacturers of prototype and production moulds in aluminum. With fully integrated CAD/CAM systems and product design support, we can provide a complete prototyping service, from concept to finished parts.
In 1997, expansion had become inevitable. A move to a new plant (almost double in size) provided the space for us to grow and accommodate our newest venture - custom in-house injection moulding.
Building on the strength of our mould making capabilities and the apparent market void of moulders experienced with aluminum, Protoplast now offers in-house moulding for both pre-production sampling and full production requirements. This developed as a natural extension to our mould-making business.
Customers enjoy the opportunity to give their mould a 'test- run', making any necessary changes quickly on site before going to production. We also offer customers the option to use our in- house M. U. D. bases. This eliminates the need to purchase anything but the core/cavity and ejector set, minimizing lead time and cutting down significantly on the overall price of tooling. The M. U. D. bases are also available for use off site and 'on loan', if required.
With the mould-making and injection moulding now working hand in hand, Protoplast has developed a smoothly operating team. When a mould is ready to leave our shop, it has been custom built, tested and approved to our customer's specifications, complete with a certificate of compliance and any other papers required by ISO or QS standards. With aluminum working for us to provide a well-established niche, we will continue to draw on technology to provide a level of quality and precision that is second to none in this industry.
