Prestige Homes pioneered the concept of custom designed homes in Atlantic Canada in 1973. John deWinter, President of Prestige Homes, and three partners, all well experienced in the industry, joined forces with the idea of prefabrication - assembling all the parts in advance - purchased 16 acres of land in the Sussex, NB area and constructed their first assembly plant and hired 50 employees, many of whom are still employed with the company. The first home came off the production line in April 1974. Within 18 months the firm was producing 200 homes per year. Today that figure has more than doubled and at present Prestige has produced over 7, 500 Homes. Now with four plants on 25 acres, Prestige employees over 150 employees, including 25 design and support staff.

As well as mini, modular and panelized homes, Prestige manufactures commercial office buildings, cottages duplexes, apartments, condominiums and motels. Some of the local projects have been a 28 room, three suite hotel called the Amsterdam Inn in Sussex, NB, a 24 unit apartment complex in Saint John, NB, and a four unit condominium in Moncton, NB, to mention a few. Prestige believes in the client becoming a partner in design where they can take part in designing their own floor plans. Prestige prides itself in producing highly efficient and well-drained homes with their customers in superior workmanship and quality. All Prestige homes are produced according to the National Building and Canadian Standards Association codes. An excellent Quality Control System and Warranty Program is maintained. Prestige is a registered R2000 builder.

The Department of Economic Development and Tourism awarded MMH Prestige Homes with the Export Achievement Award in 1988 for its sales into United States. Along with a strong Atlantic Provinces and U. S. market, the firm has developed products that meet housing needs around the world. Homes have been shipped to the Middle East, Japan, China, The Netherlands, Romania, Russia and Germany. These homes are built in wall sections and components small enough to be shipped in 40 ft., containers and are erected on site at the destination. Prestige's recent projects overseas of this type have been to China in the fall of 1997 of fifty executive-style homes for the Shanghai Links Project.

In September of 1995, we shipped homes to Germany that were shipped completely finished, the modular homes were shipped in two halves and the mini homes in one piece. They were rolled inside a vessel's hold and delivered to the destination in Germany intact. This was the first venture of its kind for the Port of Saint John.

Canadian Housing has a good reputation around the world and People recognize Canadian Houses as being both cost effective in terms of its common wood-frame construction and energy efficient for cold climate.

A new development is that Prestige was pleased to learn that one of our Panelized homes was the winner of the New Brunswick Home Builders Association's 'New Single Family Home' award for 1999.
