Paterson, Grant & Watson Limited (PGW) was established in 1973 to provide consulting, data processing and interpretation services in exploration geophysics for mineral, hydrocarbon and environmental applications. The company expanded into software in the 80's, eventually resulting in the establishment of Geosoft Inc. as a separate company to develop and market PC-based geoscience applications, a field in which it maintains a world-renowned reputation. PGW retained the rights to continue development of UNIX applications, which it markets under the GIPSI trademark. In the 90's the company's work has encompassed a broader spectrum of services for the GIS community at large.

development and implementation of a screen-based digitizing system particularly suited to capturing contour data and their conversion to profile, raster and vector formats distribution and support of ER Mapping image processing software system in Canada and selected markets elsewhere re-sale, processing and mapping of Digital Terrain Elevation Data (DTED), licensed by Natural Resources Canada processing and mapping of satellite imagery and other remotely-sensed datasets for geoscience applications databasing and conversion of geoscience maps and reports from analog to a variety of digital formats installation of geoscience workstation hardware and software, and training contract R&D in geoscience software applications. PGW employs nine professionals and a variety of support staff. The company is currently active on projects throughout North America, South America, Africa and Asia. PGW boasts a wide variety of industry and government clients throughout the world, and has worked on several overseas projects funded by international aid agencies.
