Nu-Tech Precision Metals Inc.

Arnprior, ON

Company Overview

Nu-Tech Precision Metals was established to manufacture by extrusion, cold drawing and finishing, zirconium alloy pressure tubes for the Canadian nuclear industry. Since the first shipment in 1962, over 17, 000 of these pressure tubes have been produced for use in over 40 reactors worldwide. Nu-Tech has diversified its manufacturing base and now consists of both the Extrusion Division and the Joining Technology Division. These are fully supported by a large machine shop and metal finishing facilities which include equipment for cold drawing, honing and centreless grinding.

Services

  • Aircraft Maintenance Welding And Ndt

Nu-Tech is approved by Transport Canada for welding and Non Destructive Testing in the maintenance of aeronautical products.

  • Electron Beam Welding

High vacuum, high energy electron beam welding (EBW) offers a cost effective and quality compliant solution to complex manufacturing challenges, and to the fabrication of reactive materials. The size and shape of fabrications, ranging from prototypes to production quantities, is virtually unlimited. Using CNC control, Nu-Tech can fabricate complex shapes from materials as thin as.001' (0.025mm) to tubular components 35' (>10m) in length.

  • Non Destructive Testing - Metal Tubes
  • Non Destructive Testing - Welded Products
  • Testing

Quality assurance at Nu-Tech includes NDE examinations and materials testing processes. NDE activities include dimensional metrology, ultrasonic examination, liquid penetrant inspection, magnetic particle inspection, and helium mass spectrometer leak detection. Materials testing includes metallography, grain size determination, hydrogen determination, corrosion testing, hardness testing, and tensile testing at room and elevated temperatures.
