NCT is one of a very small number of independent, full service, multi-process thermal spray facilities in Canada. NCT is a true specialist in this field, its entire business consisting either of thermal spray coating services or the manufacture of special products of which thermal spray coatings are an integral part. Major industries served include pulp and paper, mining, oil and gas, manufacturing and utilities. NCT's market is quite diverse, and, in addition to its natural customer base in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and northwestern Ontario, includes major clients in other parts of Canada as well as the U. S. A.
NCT uses 3 levels of control for its thermal spray processes: robotic, fully automatic and manual. Examples of NCT's work include rebuilding of worn areas of machinery shafts, removal and reapplication of ceramic coatings on compressor rods for the petrochemical industry, and the application of carbide coatings to improve wear resistance of large fans for cement kilns and mines.
One thermal spray application that is unique to NCT is the manufacture of plasma sprayed, ceramic coated stainless steel rods used as wear strips in paper machines and as applicators for coating materials on some paper products. Other products manufactured by NCT include hardened and ceramic coated pump sleeves used in many mines and pulp and paper mills.
NCT also performs some on-site coating services. Examples of this type of work include the rebuilding of dryer rolls with thick stainless steel coatings and the application of traction coatings on winder drums for the paper industry, as well as the spraying of corrosion-resistant zinc and aluminum coatings on structural members of bridges, etc.
NCT has a Quality System which has been certified to the ISO 9001 Standard. This comprehensive system covers all of NCTs operations from initial review of customer requirements to shipping the final product. All Production operations are controlled by written procedures and specifications. All Production and measuring equipment is regularly calibrated and maintained according to strict schedules.
