MDAs Geospatial Services International (formerly RADARSAT International www. rsi. ca) provides Earth observation data, information products and services from the majority of commercially available radar and optical satellites. These products and services are used globally for resource mapping, environmental monitoring, offshore oil and gas exploration, ice reconnaissance, maritime surveillance and disaster management.

MDA holds the exclusive distribution rights to Canadas RADARSAT-1 and RADARSAT-2 synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellites. MDA will operate the RADARSAT-2 satellite when launched. RADARSAT-2 offers unparalleled imaging flexibility, dual polarization and full polarimetric imaging options, high-resolution and a highly responsive programming and delivery ground segment.

RADAR (8- to 100-metre resolution) applications include:

Optical (1- to 188-metre resolution) applications include:

  New 'per km2' prices for RADARSAT data satisfy client needs for cost-effective large area coverage. To keep mapping costs down, clients can select the optimal resolution and imaging areas, and only pay for the data that covers their area of interest - a first for any commercial satellite program. Useful for all applications, including land cover mapping, forest mapping, topographic mapping, geological mapping, national mapping programs, environmental management plans industry site planning, and monitoring.
