Lambton College was established in 1966 by the Government of Ontario, and is accredited by the Ministry of Education and Training of Ontario. The College's main campus consists of 290, 000 square feet of classrooms, labs, student support space and offices. Also located at the main campus is a 120 room Residence and a Day Care Centre. Currently, Lambton College serves over 2, 600 full-time and 11, 000 part-time students. 90% of its graduates find employment within a few months of grad- uation. Located in Sarnia, Ontario, with Lambton College is a booming industrial base including a large concentration of refineries, chemical and chemical process industries. Many of the College's programs and specialties were developed to directly serve this industry. Sarnia provides a safe and cosmopolitan living experience with easy access to Detroit and Toronto, as well as areas for outdoor recreation. Sarnia, situated on the Canada- US border provides a safe and comfortable living experience. Toronto, Ontario, is three hours by car and Detroit, Michigan, is one hour away. Summers are pleasantly warm, winters are less severe than most of Canada. Since first established, Lambton Collge has developed an enviable record in educational leadership. Today it offers a host of quality programs, some of which have attracted national, as well as, global attention. A number of its programs and facilities are unique in Canada. Lambton College's Centres of Specialization and unique programs have been developed on the strength of the College's partnershps with local industry. Centres of Specialization include the Centre for International Education; the Centre for Advanced Process Technology; the Centre for Environmental Management and Safety;
and the Centre for Business and Industry which encompasses the Management Training Centre, and the Computer Training Centre. Most work done internationally is in custom designed programs relating to the College's specialty areas. Often these programs involve partnerships with other colleges and universities as well as business and industry. Several times these linkages have been formed not only in Canada, but also in the United States and several other countries abroad. Lambton College has also pro- vided training to customers of suppliers of equipment and specialized products to assist their own initiatives. The College provides customized training for local business and industry. College specialties include: Advanced Chemical Process Technology and Instrumentation; Environmental Management and Safety; Information and Computer Technology; Hosptiality and Tourism; International Trade; Market Expansion International;
Information Technology Professional (ITP); Systems Applications and Products Canada (SAP); the only Industrial Fire School in Canada; University Transfer - 8 Canadian universities; 7 US universities. The second oldest of Ontario's colleges of applied arts and technology, Lambton is celebrating its 30th Anniversary in 96/97.
