LGL Limited was formed in 1971 to conduct environmental research. LGL maintains offices in King City, Ontario;

Sidney, British Columbia; Nanaimo, British Columbia; St. John's, Newfoundland; Anchorage, Alaska; Suva, Fiji; and Moscow, Russia. LGL Limited is affiliated with LGL Ecological Research Associates Inc. with offices in Bryan, Texas. LGL Limited is owned and managed by its respective employees. LGL offers expertise in many disciplines, including ecosystem research in terrestrial, aquatic and marine habitats, environmental planning and assessment, and resource management. LGL has expertise with many field and laboratory methodologies, field logistics, subcontract management, data processing, and analysis. LGL has developed strong expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

LGL maintains an in-house staff of about 50 professionals with expertise in a broad range of disciplines, including birds, mammals (terrestrial and marine) and fish; freshwater, marine and wetland ecology; disturbance effects; environmental assessment; and data analysis. Several staff members are world experts in their fields, regularly participating in international committees and conferences; they also publish regularly in the primary scientific literature. LGL's senior staff are often called as expert witnesses at environmental hearings. In addition, LGL is very effective at building project teams, calling on expertise, when required, from its roster of external expert consultants in other firms and in academia.

A key to LGL's success has been the stability of the company, resulting in low staff turnover. Several staff members in each major office have been with LGL for 10-20 years. This experience enables LGL to complete assignments efficiently, on time, and within budget, and with a high degree of scientific competence. Also, LGL continues to hire promising new employees to expand the firm's capabilities in areas such as GIS, environmental assessment and fisheries management.

LGL has conducted many hundreds of studies from 1971 to date. These studies demonstrate our ability to perform scientific work in the field and office to satisfy the requirements of clients in industry and government. LGL's continued success as a company after more than 25 years of work in this field demonstrates the credibility of the firm and of its individual employees.
