Numerous Environmental Assessments for multiple scale projects, Various Clients Northwest Territories, Canada
Extensive resource exploration in the Mackenzie Delta region of the Northwest Territories has required a considerable amount of scientifc, regulatory, impact assessment, and mitigation initiatives. IEGs team of environmental planners, geophysical engineers, archaeologists, biologists, and GIS analysts have been involved in gathering a wide range of environmental and sociological data to adequately describe and assess the physical, social, and biological characteristics of proposed developments, including large scale 2-D, 3-D, and marine seismic programs, and exploratory drilling operations.
Regional Integrated Biophysical/Heritage Survey of the Mackenzie Delta region, (NWT) Wildlife Management Advisory Council, NWT Nine Petroleum Operators Mackenzie Delta, Canada
In the summer of 2001 IEGs biophysical and heritage resources teams completed vegetation classification, wildlife habitat suitability models and a heritage resource survey of the Mackenzie Delta Region of the Northwest Territories, an area greater than 50, 000 km2. The surveys incorporated remote sensing data, field surveys and traditional ecological knowledge in an effort to create a refined picture of that regions floral and faunal diversity and heritage resource base.
DEW Line Decommissioning Projects, Defence Construction Canada, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut, Canada
IEG have been involved in the decommissioning of 13 DEW Line sites across northern Canada ($2.6 to $28 million). Field experience includes excavation and remediation of contaminated soils, fuel spill recovery in permafrost using multiphase extraction, industrial landOll removals, PCB- contaminated building demolitions, asbestos abatement, removal of hazardous debris from the marine environment, spill cleanups, portable incinerator operation, remote wastewater treatment, unknown barrel identiOcation and disposal, and contaminant sampling and Oeld screening.
Development of Environmental Operating Guidelines, Various Oil and Gas Clients
IEG has developed a set of Environmental Operating Guidelines (EOG)derived from more than 250 references, which focus on all regulatory requirements and recognized industry practices that apply to the upstream oil and gas industry. The guidelines address a range of activities from exploration to site reclamation, and can be customized to meet the clients speciOc requirements. Clients use the guidelines as a reference for regulatory requirements and best practices for a wide variety of operations as well as a due dilligence tool in assessing operations and managing IEG developed a regulatory audit compliance program for a NGL gas plant and also for a natural gas storage and fractionation facility. The process involved conducting a full regulatory review of all federal, provincial, and municipal regulatory requirements and recommended industry practices related to all aspects of gas plant and storage facility operation in Alberta.
Introductory Land Assessment Training, Indian Oil & Gas Canada, Calgary, Alberta
IEG acted as the Project Manager, course designer and instructor for the curriculum development and delivery of a 3 day and a 10 day course entitled Introductory Land Assessment Training. Course materials included introduction to all aspects of the oil and gas industry; requirements for the assessment of land prior to environmental approval and assessment of reclamation status, including documenting residents concerns, using biophysical inventories and conducting environmental screenings.
