Hempline is one of North Americas leading producers of natural fibres such as hemp and flax for a range of applications. The Company contracts local area farmers to produce hemp and flax stalks, from which useful fibres are extracted and refined. The primary fibres on the outside of the stalk are used to replace glass fibre in a range of composite materials. These applications include molded car parts such as interior door panels, headliners and package trays. A range of construction materials can also be made from the primary hemp and flax fibre including insulation and high strength paneling.
The core of the hemp and flax stalk can be ground down to the make fillers for extrusion plastic products such as decking and fence posts. The core fibre is also used as horse bedding and garden mulch, and one popular product is sold under the brand name HempChips.
