Provided guidance and support for the sustainable implementation of a formal problem solving methodology to augment their corrective action process.
Failure Mode and Effect Analysis Review in the Bank of Canada. Optical Security Materials Designed, developed and delivered a workshop Failure Mode and Effects Analysis to identify potential problem areas in product designs and processes for the Bank of Canadas Optical Security Material production processes. Prioritized improvement areas and created action plans for improvements.
Assessment of Data Quality for the National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) Environment Canada Assessment of the current level of data quality being collected for the NPRI by over 4, 000 facilities across Canada. The assessment is part of a business case study and requires interviews with representation form all stakeholders including NPRI staff, support departments, data providers, critical clients. A questionnaire was developed to use for the interviews and is based on the Treasury Boards Risk Management practices. Final report will include current status and risk assessment, options for the NPRI to improve the level of confidence of received pollutant data, and recommendations to proceed.
Pilot implementation of an ISO 9000 Quality Management System in the National Hydrometric Program (NHP) Environment Canada Conducted gap analysis and reports for the pilot areas of the National Hydrometric ISO 9000 program in Winnipeg and Ottawa. Completed training of pilot project team and area staff in the introduction and implementation of ISO 9000. Facilitated pilot team workshops throughout the implementation process including the creation and monitoring of pilot project plan. Guided team members through the development of a Quality Policy Manual and nation-wide Core Processes including the identification of nation-wide support processes. Continue to act as a guide and mentor for the pilot team and location staff. Currently developing many of the support processes with team members. Will train internal audit team members and lead internal audits for the pilot sites in Winnipeg and Ottawa.
Guide US organization on Journey to Excellence. MapInfo Facilitated an assessment session with 40 representative employees to the USA Malcolm Baldrige Award Excellence criteria. Identified the Critical Few project activities the organization will pursue improvement on. Designed, developed and facilitated training workshops to guide the project improvement teams through the Plan, Do Study, Act improvement cycle including the identification of clear objectives, data to collect (including methodology) that will define current status, data organization to show trending and prioritization, improvement theory development, pilot improvements, verification and final global implementations. First set of improvement teams had successful pilot projects completed in Spring 2004.
Guide American Society for Quality Section on Journey to Excellence American Society for Quality (ASQ) Ottawa Valley Section Project Team Leader for the Canadian Awards for Excellence (CAE) initiative in the Ottawa Valley non-profit volunteer association of quality professionals. Led process and management system assessments to the CAE criteria set out by the National Quality Institute (NQI) 2001 and 2002 by facilitating the identification of Strengths, Weaknesses and Opportunities for Improvement. Recorded the proceedings and reported the findings including identification of the vital few objectives with actions on how to achieve them. ASQ Ottawa Valley has received NQIs Quality Award PEP Level One.
Assessment to Canadas National Quality Institutes (NQI) Healthy Workplace criteria. Ontario Ministry of Labour Designed, developed and facilitated a workshop to assess the operations division to the National Quality Institutes Healthy Workplace criteria PEP Levels One and Two. Identified with 40 participants the organizations Strengths and Opportunities for Improvement based on the criteria and developed an action plan on site to meet PEP (Progressive Excellence Program) levels One and Two.
Assessment to Canadas National Quality Institutes (NQI) Quality criteria. Health Canada Designed, developed and facilitated a workshop to assess Health Canadas Business Excellence and Accountability Services to the National Quality Institutes Quality Fitness criteria. Identified with staff members the organizations Strengths and Opportunities for Improvement based on the criteria and facilitated the scoring of the organization according to the NQI rating guidelines.
Using Positive Inquiry to Develop Better Teams International Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA) Facilitation of an Appreciative Inquiry workshop for volunteers in USA and Canada. Created and led interviews between volunteers to identify the most successful team experiences and led volunteers to design team system based on interview results.
ISO 9000 Implementation in the Bank of Canada Optical Security Materials Project guide responsible for the implementation of ISO 9000 into the Optical Security Materials division including the training of employees, gap analysis to the ISO 9000: 2000 quality management standard, report on current status with recommendations, creation of implementation project plan, set-up of monitoring and improvement teams, internal audit team development and internal audits. All levels of documentation and development of quality management systems were created with applicable staff members.
ISO 9000 Training for DND Support Organization BAE Systems Projects of Canada Set-up ISO 9000 implementation and management review teams. Facilitated the creation of an implementation project plan based on previous evaluation results. Orientated employees to the ISO 9000 standard, their quality management system and the different aspects of internal, customer and third party auditing.
Strategic Planning to Meet Sales Objective Montebello Packaging Facilitated the strategic planning session for the organizational sales objective utilizing organization and decision-making tools such as decision matrix, cause and effect analysis, force field analysis. Identified with the team potential sales growth strategies based on current trends and data and assessed the strengths, weaknesses and opportunities for improvement of the organization. Created an action plan to implement the agreed upon strategies to meet the sales objective.

Implementation of an ISO 9000 Quality Management System in the Meteorological Services of Canada (MSC) Environment Canada Facilitated and partnered in the development of evaluation criteria based on the international standards ISO 9000 and SPICE Level 3, completed a gap analysis of existing work processes and organization structure, assessed their effectiveness, identified gaps, then recorded the proceedings and presented a report on the organizations areas of strength, weakness, opportunities and critical risks. Facilitated the mapping and documentation of the organizations quality management system. Set-up the management review team process. Project status was monitored on a regular basis and came in on time and in budget. Project included the design and development of a stakeholder survey vehicle and the facilitation of a stakeholder focus group. The final report included an assessment of the current status of the directorate, their critical due diligence issues, and recommendations.
Project Plan Development for HRDC Procurement Processes. Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC) Facilitated the multi-stakeholder team review of procurement planning processes in Human Resources Development Canada taking into consideration cross-sectoral issues from the different government departments involved (HRDC, PWGSC). Mapped processes for procurement planning, recorded group proceedings and completed summary report and implementation project timeline. Facilitated cross-sectoral review of HRDC software assets management with multi-stakeholder representation between Material Management and Systems personnel and recorded/communicated team meeting minutes.
ISO 9000 Guidance for Roofing Manufacturer Ideal Roofing Company Ltd. Facilitated a gap analysis of the organizations processes to the international management system standard ISO 9000 version 2000, recorded the proceedings and created a final report showing a current status executive summary, non-conformances, observations, recommendations for improvement. Set-up the management review and internal audit teams and led the first internal management systems audit. Reviewed current status of management system documentation and recommended global changes.
ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 Integrated Management System in the Automotive Industry PPG Canada Created and gave presentation to senior management of ISO/TS 16949 automotive quality management system standard, implications for a combined ISO 9000 based quality management and ISO 14000 environmental management system. Facilitated discussions and recommendations to proceed.
ISO 9000 Internal Audit for Principals Association Ontario Principals Council (OPC) Trained the internal audit team and facilitated the evaluation of this non-profit associations processes to the ISO 9000 standard, recorded the team proceedings and created a report for senior management showing the results of the audit along with recommendations for improvement.
Development of Quality Program for Integrated Voice Response Program Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA) Facilitated the evaluation and mapping of processes concerning the design, development, installation and monitoring of Integrated Voice Response (IVR) systems for the Telecom & Program Support Directorate (TPSD). Facilitated several multi-department group discussions on the current status of the directorates quality system and their requirements, needs, expectations and recommendations. Recorded the group proceedings and created an MS PowerPoint presentation for senior management strategic planning. Assessment of the TPSD quality management system to the ISO 9000: 1994 standard criteria, creation of a implementation project plan with staff to meet international criteria.
