How We Started In early 1998, Dr. Allan Holmes, the President and founder of Global Medical Services, was approached by a pulp mill who had tragically lost two workers to sudden cardiac arrest in a one month period. The company had faced numerous roadblocks in their attempt to place an automated external defibrillator on their worksite.
By combining their efforts and overcoming the many medical, legal and occupational health and safety issues, Global Medical Services and the mill launched the first occupational Automated External Defibrillator (AED) program in Canada.
Our Company Today Since this first program, Global Medical Services has implemented over 150 programs throughout British Columbia and Canada and has trained over 3000 people in Cardiac Arrest Management. We continue to recognize the need to strengthen the chain of survival and have added Emergency Response Planning (Early Access and CPR) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Early Advanced Care) to our program portfolio. Our Consulting division provides services to some of British Columbias largest health care regions and more recently we have assembled a team of Canadas leading emergency medical specialists to assist organizations with the management of biohazard / chemical exposure.
The Future Global Medical Services seeks to design and develop advanced medical training programs to improve patient care and meet the needs of groups without prompt access to advanced emergency medical care. We believe that education and planning are paramount to saving lives.
We partner with our existing clients to constantly evolve and refine our programs.
