Far West Industries Inc. is Canada's leading manufacturer of Gore-Tex outerwear. Since the company was established in 1977, Far West has specialized in producing Gore-Tex jackets and pants for all outdoor pursuits. Far West products are engineered to provide the highest comfort range against the harshest Canadian winters. All product is manufactured in the company owned, computerized factory in Vernon, British Columbia. Contracts from other companies are accepted and Far West's in-house design team is equipped to handle all customer requests. Far West's domestic line was recently expanded to include outdoor lifestyle canvas sportswear of garment washed cotton jackets, pants, shorts and shirts. Included in the line is a fleece program with many pieces capable of being zipped into Gore-Tex shells. In upcoming months Far West will introduce a line of printed velours in vests and jackets with or without W. L. Gore's windstopper lining. Far West currently sells 90 percent of its output to the Canadian market, but recent export contracts have been fulfilled for Sweden, Italy, Spain, Andorra and the United Kingdom. Far West is interested in developing markets in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Belgium, and Denmark. Argentina and Chile are also target markets. Far West would consider sales agencies and/or distributor agreements with interested companies.
