Ensyn Technologies Inc., established in 1991, is the world's only constructor/operator of commercial facilities for the rapid thermochemical liquification of biomass wastes. Over a 10 year R&D effort, a unique liquification process, Rapid Thermal Processing (RTP), was developed and industrially proven. However, RTP is not an incineration process. In a closed system, lignocellulosic materials are heated very rapidly in the absence of air causing a breakdown of their polymeric structure to produce high yields of low molecular weight liquids.
Feedstocks which have been successfully processed by Ensyn Technologies Inc. using RTP include: forest industry residues (sawdust, shavings, bark, sludges), agricultural wastes (straw, bagasse, rapeseed cake), food processing residues (coconut shells, apple pomace, cellulosic casings), dried municipal sewage sludge, non-recyclable paper products (boxboard, Asian cardboard), and urban/industrial wood wastes (pallets, crating, root/stump residues).
Products generated from the bio-liquids depend on the specific feedstock being processed but can include: specialty chemicals (food flavorings, pharmaceuticals), binders (adhesives, road stabilizers), preservatives, road de-icers and co-polymers (structural foams, plastics). The char by-product can often be further processed to yield quality activated carbon for wastewater treatment.
The bio-crude liquids are suitable as a direct substitute for fossil fuels in a wide range of applications. They can be direct-fired in boilers/combustors/kilns a well as used to fuel large stationary diesel engines and gas turbines for co-generation of electricity.
Ensyn Technologies Inc., builds, owns and operates its plants (RTP). Ensyn will accept feedstock at its plants and deliver its products to its customers.

Ensyn provides total industrial packages for converting a wide variety of solid biomass wastes, including forest industry residues, non-recyclable paper wastes, agricultural and food processing residues, RDF, etc., to value-added marketable products. Lignocellulosic wastes are dried, ground and thermally depolymerized to yield a light, free-flowing liquid product that can displace fossil fuels either in direct firing of combustors and boilers, or in stationary diesel engines and gas turbines for co-generation of electricity.
RTP plants produce no aqueous effluent and conform to local environmental criteria by utilizing by-product fuel gases and char internally to provide the thermal energy required for the conversion process. Based on long-term contracts, Ensyn will raise capital, acquire permits, construct and operate plants, typically in modules from 100 tonnes/day capacity.
Electricity produced from biomass using pyrolysis to produce BIO- OIL which is then used to produce power.
Chemicals derived from pyrolysis bio-oil. Includes resins, polymeners and co-polymers.
