Electrial Contacts Limited, (ECL) was founded in 1970, in Ontario, Canada as a manufacturer devoted exclusively to the production of precious metal contact materials. Our Steering Committee continues to promote the concepts of Total Quality Management that our founder had implemented.
The original corporate ideas of employee input, continuous improvement and customer service have been augmented by our Corporate Values and Vision Statement. Implementation of ISO 9002 ensure that ECL's Quality Policy will be maintained. This direction allows ECL to improve its increasingly strong position in the North American market and has allowed our expansion outside of North America to proceed.
The original product line of discrete sintered contacts has expanded to include contact assemblies as well as clad (bi/tri metal) contact buttons and profiled tapes. ECL also produces solid and bimetal contact rivets. Through its thirty years of growth ECL has maintained a responsiveness that is unsurpassed in the industry today. ECL supports various customer delivery programs such as JIT and Kan-Ban. We also support customers in regional markets with local warehouse operations. Our combination of best quality products and excellent customer service has allowed us to quadruple revenues since 1993 and grow to where employment is in excess of one hundred and sixty people.
Our markets include l) the electrical distribution business,
- the industrial control business, 3) the automotive control
business and 4) the appliance control business. Manufacturers of circuit protection apparatus, switchgear, contractors, thermostats and mechanical switches are our customers. ECL's customer list includes organizations such as SIEMENS, Groupe Schneider, ABB, Lear Corporation, General Electric, EATON/ Cutler-Hammer and Cooper Industries. Our objective is to provide best quality products and excellent customer service to our customers regardless of their size.

Products are derived from two key technologies, unit compaction powder metallurgy and metal laminating.
Unit compaction powder metallurgy involves the production of dual-phase materials through compaction and sintering technologies. Materials are engineered to suit customer's applications on a regular basis.
The metal laminating technology is based on 'hot bonding' technology. The hot bonding process employed at ECL is unique. Simultaneous bimetal and trimetal bonding of precious and base metals is the intial and key element of the technology. From these clad materials, stamped parts, contact buttons and profiled contact tapes are produced to customer's specifications.
