One of Excel's major achievements is the Alcan/Alma project is the building of a new smelte in Alma, Quebec. The total transportation budget for this endeavour has been forecasted at $10milion dollars by the Alcan/Alma project facilitators. All suppliers (74 around the globe) are contacted by MSAS overseas stations in order to obtain cargo status and make all necessary transportation arrangements up to Montreal. All over- dimensional cargo requires particular care and careful consideration in order to make sure that goods are moved safely and efficiently from overseas to Canada. MSAS maintains the Alcan/Alma project team informed at all times of shipment movement delays or changes.
Another major achievement of Exel was it was appointed by the Formula One Management as the official supplier of transportation and logistics services for all FORMULA 1 TEAMS. Exel designed a special loading concept to receive Formula 1 cars. Exel is responsible for all logistics aspects of the racing cars, engines, spares and all support materials necessary for successful participation at the Formula One Grand Prix Championship races held across the world.
The Airbus program in St. Nazaire is another achievement of transportation of crates with dimensions of 14 and 15 feet wide by 6 and 10 feet high. Transfer from RORO service to conventional service = transportation cost less expensive. Transfert of the loading port from Port Elizabeth N. J. (USA) to Monreal = reduction of the transit time by 4 days. Modification pf the loading crates rom retractable shuttle container in plastified wood to regular wooden crate = cost reduction total of 22.5%.
