Provision is made for individual manual testing.
Custom models are also available.
A broad variety of both manual and automatic sequential testers is offered to satisfy the needs of both high and low volume applications. High voltage, high current, leakage current, insulation resistance, element resistance, ground continuity, operation timing are some of the features that can be combined in these units.
The CTS series of Cable Test Sets includes several models differing from one another in the number of wires, voltage and current specifications, and other features. Typically, the standard units can test up to four wires per cable (plus ground and armour) and up to 10 cables, or 40 wires in a single cable. Continuity tests are done, and then a hipot test on each wire (up to 10 kV). The operation is fully automatic with individual failure-indicator lamps. Many variations are possible on special order.
Model TCB-108 Capacitance Bridge is a portable general-purpose bridge for moderate-accuracy measurements for public utility and laboratory use for the measurement of capacitors or dielectric material. It comprises a transformer-type bridge operating from an internal 108-Hz generator, with digital readout of capacitance from 1 pF to 100 F over four ranges, and digital readout of D (dissipation factor) in percentage from 0 to 50%.
Criterion Instruments Limited specializes in the design and manufacture of special high-voltage test equipment, for dielectric strength testing or for other applications.. Any ac line input.. Output voltage to 100 kV.. Rating to 20 kVA (higher on short duty cycle).. More than 20 special options are available.
The AVC series of breakdown testers has for many years, been a standard with Canadian electrical manufacturers to assure that electrical appliances meet the dielectric strength requirements specified by CSA and UL. Two of our standard models, the AVC-25V (2500 V ac) and the AVC-50V (5000 V ac) cover more than 95% of these requirements. Both units offer a continuously adjustable output voltage to their maximum rated values. All units are equipped with a high-voltage pilot lamp, power and fault lamps, automatic cut-out and a heavy duty retractable high-voltage probe. These units also automatically verify the grounding and polarity of the supply receptacle.
AVC-25V and AVC-25VA are CSA approved.
Other units, for special applications, are available on request.
Features AC, DC, and AC/DC outputs:. Adjustable output potentials to 15, 000 volts. Automatic cut-out - wide range of trip current. Continuously indicating high-voltage voltmeter. Voltage measured directly at output. Optional millimeter. Indicator lamps. Safety device for incorrectly wired outlet. Heavy-duty retractable probe (to 5 kV)
For testing to meet UL and CSA specifications.
Other voltages and currents on special order up to 100kV, up to 20 kVA.
Designed for testing buried cable, switchgear, transformers, etc.. Available in outputs up to 100 kV dc. Current outputs 5 and 16 mA standard. Single or two-unit construction.
Sometimes called phasing sticks. Manufactured in ranges up to 80 kV. Models HS-5, 15, 25, 35, 50 and 80 kV. High insulation strength, 3.5 kV/cm. Dual ranges also available - for Utilities with two distribution voltages on their system and/or to assure true zero on phasing applications. (For safety, sticks are always on high range until low range is selected). Proving Unit- A 5-6 kV AC portable battery powered unit to verify the operation of Hot Sticks in remote locations.
With analog or digital meters.
Higher-voltage testers or other special units can be designed to meet your particular specifications.
Model LCT-3 Line-Cord Tester is an automatic test set to check continuity, polarity and dielectric breakdown on three-wire line cords.
Continuity resistance is measured and compared to a pre-set value in the range 0.1 to 0.4. The test limits may be set individually for each wire.
Dielectric strength is tested for all wire combinations up to 2500 V ac.
Many variations are possible to suit your individual needs.
Model DOT-100 Micro-Ohmmeter is intended for the four-terminal measurement of contact resistance and other low resistances, such as: bus bars, circuit breakers, large relays and contactors, and fuses. The resistance range is 0.1 to 2 (nominal), at a test current up to 100A dc (filtered). The resistance is calculated by an analog computer so that the reading is independent of the current. Current and resistance meters are digital. Shielded potential leads minimize errors due to stray pickup. The unit is housed in a portable steel case with carrying handle and removable cover.
We offer a broad range of ac and dc models, accuracies from 3.0% to 1.0%. Square and rectangular designs are available from 2-in to 7-in wide with scaling up to 250 for high resolution. All produced in our manufacturing facility, scaled and calibrated to suit your requirements.
Instrument transformers and shunts are also available.
Contactless contact meters are available for a broad variety of control and relaying applications.
Precision analogue portable meters are also manufactured.
AVOT-600-A high-voltage test set to establish dielectric breakdown of transformer and other insulating oils. This unit features 3 selectable motorized rates of voltage rise to a maximum of 60 kV. It incorporates a memory voltmeter, which retains the value of the breakdown voltage. The unit meets ASTM specifications D-877 and D-1816.
A broad variety of low and high voltage and current power supplies are manufactured to standard designs and for special applications.
AC: Our ac designs are rugged and include ammeter and voltmeter as required. Regulated high current designs are available for special applications, up to 10000 A.

Typical Specifications: Line Regulation -0.03% of output voltage for line variation of 10%. Load Regulation - 0.03% from zero to full load. Ripple - 2mV rms. Short-circuit protection. Voltmeter and ammeter as required.
SPECIFICATIONS:
Input Voltage: - 120V, 60Hz, single phase
Output Voltage: - Continuously variable from zero to the maximum voltage indicated in above table.
Output current: - Zero to maximum indicated in above table.
even on a short circuit.
Line Regulation: - If the input line voltage changes +/- 10% from its nominal 120 V, the output voltage will change no more than +/- 0.03% or +/- 15mV, whichever is greater (at any load current within rating).

Ripple: - The rms value of the ripple voltage will be no greater than 0.05% or 20 mV, whichever is greater (at any line voltage or load current within rating).
Short circuit: - Output may be shorted continuously without damage to the unit. Power supply recovers Proof automatically to normal when short is removed.
The RT series of portable relay test sets delivers all commonly required ac and dc outputs for checking: relays, circuit breakers, overload protectors and similar devices. A variety of test circuit options are available. There are three basic models: RT-0.5, RT-1 and Rt-2 (kVA) Operation is from 120 V, 60 Hz.
Leakage and Continuity Tester for Power Tools and Extension Cords.
The ST-04 will reveal a hazardous tool or appliance before it is operated. Checks the supply for ground presence and correct polarity. The tool or appliance is tested for: 'U' ground continuity to housing, leaking current (phase to ground and neutral to ground), and current drawn to 25 amperes. The unit is also equipped with a GFI test circuit.
Model DOT-20 portable Transformer-Resistance Test Set is intended primarily for measuring the dc resistance of large inductors, such as transformer windings, without the long settling time associated with the usual low-voltage ohmmeters. A switch is provided to save energy when measuring non-inductive resistances, such as fuses, resistors, etc.. The resistance range is 1 to 200 (nominal). The unit uses a highly regulated test current, a four-terminal measurement system, and a digital resistance meter. Two heavy-duty test clips are used, modified the sensing contacts, so that only the two leads need to be connected to the item under test. The unit is protected against inductive voltage spikes if a lead falls off, and it includes a lamp to show when it is safe to remove the leads after a test is completed.
