The CRA Innovative Technology Group consists of a core group of employees dedicated to identification, evaluation, and application of innovative approaches for the remediation of contaminated sites. The goals of the group are to:
i)reduce the overall cost for remediation programs;
ii)identify passive remedies for active sites with a bias toward in situ technologies;
iii)identify and assess technologies to reduce remedial program costs; and iv)identify viable technologies that can be used for multiple sites.
The groups services include:
i)use of in-house resources and review of innovative technology literature and databases to identify potential technologies;
ii)assess innovative technologies identified to determine best remedial option for specific site conditions;
iii)develop a conceptual remedial strategy including implementation and operation cost estimates and recommendations for treatability studies and field pilot tests; and iv)conduct treatability studies and assist in field implementation and monitoring of the remedy.
The group also has available fully equipped laboratory and experienced staff capable of conducting treatability studies to assist in the selection of remedial alternatives and support of full-scale implementation of innovative technologies.

Utilization of the natural attenuation capability is appropriate for certain site-specific conditions. CRA personnel are experts in assessing the integrated processes that govern the occurrence of intrinsic remediation or natural attenuation, to determine when the approach will be sufficiently effective and not create unacceptable human and environmental exposure risk.
Alternatively, when natural attenuation processes will not be sufficiently effective, CRA personnel are intimately familiar with the spectrum of procedures which will create a cost-effective and technically sound solution. CRA personnel have the unique combination of hands-on experience and technical expertise to address the client's specific requirements.
