As an advanced technology company, Comtek has an active technology development program that supports the companys strategic need for new products and processes and for the evaluation of newly-developed material systems that can be used in new products. This will require continued technology innovation and ongoing partnerships with customers, universities and government research and development centres, so that the company maintains its competitive advantage.
Comteks Technology Development Committee, which is chaired by the Vice President, periodically evaluates and prioritizes all company development activities. Some of these activities are done in-house, but many are collaborative programs with other companies such as Bombardier, academic institutions such as Carleton University, and government research organizations such as the Canadian National Research Council.
Activities are focussed on products and processes for application in the relatively short term. Comtek monitors state-of-the-art research conducted around the world through timely review of the relevant technical and scientific publications and by attending technical conferences.
