The Canadian Energy Research Institute (CERI) is an independent, non-profit research institute committed to excellence in the analysis of energy economics and related environmental policy issues in the producing, transportation, and consuming sectors. CERI was founded in 1975. The parties that sponsor the Institute today are:

 Alberta Department of Energy;

 Alberta Energy and Utilities Board;

 Alberta Research Council;

 British Columbia Ministry of Energy & Mines;

 Environment Canada;

 Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development (DIAND);

 Natural resources Canada (NRCAN);

 Newfoundland & Labrador, Department of Mines & Energy;

 Northwest Territories Department of Resources, Wildlife & Economic Development;

 Ontario Ministry of Energy;

 The University of Calgary; and  The Private Sector Sponsors of CERI (about 100 energy-related companies).

CERIs mission is to provide relevant, independent, objective economic research and education in energy and related environmental issues to benefit business, government, academia and the public. CERI is staffed by experts in many facets of energy economics and draws on leading authorities in many countries in order to provide accurate information about energy resources and emerging trends and issues.
