CERI was founded in 1975. The parties that sponsor the Institute today are:

CERIs mission is to provide relevant, independent, objective economic research and education in energy and related environmental issues to benefit business, government, academia and the public. CERI is staffed by experts in many facets of energy economics and draws on leading authorities in many countries in order to provide accurate information about energy resources and emerging trends and issues.
