The Canadian Centre for Emergency Preparedness (CCEP) was established in 1993 as a federally incorporated not-for-profit organization. CCEP advocates and promotes disaster management principles & practices to individuals, communities and organizations, in both government and the private sector, with the aim of reducing the risk, impact and cost of natural, human- induced and technological disasters.
CCEPs objectives are to increase awareness of the growing risks, and changing nature of disasters; to promote the need for sound disaster management principles and practices; and to disseminate information on the availability of professional expertise and resources, including technology.
CCEPs major activity is the annual World Conference on Disaster Management, one of the largest international events of its kind.
The first World Conference on Disaster Management (WCDM) was organized in October 1989 - since 1994 the WCDM has been presented by CCEP as an annual event. The Conference is now recognized as the premier North American events addressing a full spectrum of disaster management disciplines for training and networking among Emergency Management, Business Continuity and Emergency Health Care professionals worldwide, and for the organizations which supply and service these professions.
The WCDM is held every year in Toronto. Over 1500 delegates, sponsors and exhibitors from 50 countries attend presentations and workshops on business continuity, emergency planning and emergency health care.
The theme of the WCDM is Emergency Management & Business Continuity Working Together. Full information is available on the conference web site www. wcdm. org

'In my 38 years in the communications business this is by far the best conference I have ever attended; it is obvious that your whole team did excellent research on both the variety of the subjects covered and the overall excellent quality of your presenters and material covered..... The Conference truly was 'A World Class Event' organized by people who truly represent the best in disaster management principles.' Peter Johnstone, Senior Service Director, Bell Nexxia, Ottawa, Canada
'... I was extremely impressed with the general standard of presentations. Many of them were first class. Clearly, the reputation of the Conference is such that you are able to gather together people of the highest calibre in their respective fields.....
