Background Bayly Communications Inc. is a privately-held Canadian company formed in 1990 to develop and market digital communications products based on time division multiplexing (TDM) technology. These products conform to both North American and International standards and are sold to network operators worldwide. Several unique capabilities are incorporated in Bayly's products to satisfy the requirements for multipoint communications and loop networks. Bayly products are widely used by oil/gas pipeline companies, electric utilities and wireless operators providing cost-effective edge-of-network access solutions.
Milestones
1993 Bayly introduces the third generation OmniplexerR with enhanced features and a simple remote management/alarm reporting system. Several leading telecom equipment manufacturers and system integrators worldwide use OmniplexerR as their standard T1/E1 access multiplexer.
1996 Bayly introduces a compact modem providing high speed (2 Mbps) bi-directional digital transmission over standard copper telephone lines.
Bayly is selected to supply E1 multiplex equipment for a 5 year period to TGN, a gas pipeline operator in Argentina.
1997 Bayly introduces the OMNIBranchR, a compact digital cross-connect switch. OMNIBranchR quickly becomes the product of choice of several major wireless operators in North America.
Bayly supplies the 2, 000th unit to Rogers Cantel, Canada's nationwide wireless service provider.
Bayly continues to supply digital multiplex products to railroads, oil and gas pipeline companies in India and Pakistan.
1998 PrimeCo Personal Communications (USA) selects OMNIBranchR for deployment in its PCS network.
Quality Bayly's quality policy is to ensure that our customers experience unexcelled product performance, safety of operation and dependability throughout the useful life of the equipment. In pursuit of this quality objective, Bayly is registered to the ISO 9002 quality program.
Affiliations Communications and Information Technology Ontario (CITO), directing funds to Ontario Universities for research and development.
Canadian Advanced Technology Association (CATA), providing members with information and knowledge of technologies and markets.
Alliance of Manufacturers & Exporters Canada, concerned with improving the competitiveness of member companies.
Strategic Direction Bayly will continue to enhance current product platforms to address the evolving requirements of our customers. New products will be developed to fulfill the emerging telecommunications access needs of international carriers, utility, pipeline and transportation systems.

Bayly Communications Inc. is a privately-held company, formed in 1990 to develop and market digital multiplexing and digital cross-connect switch products. Several technologies are incorporated into Bayly's designs including;
Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) technology provides a standards- based multiplex platform for transmission of multiple numbers of voice and data channels over digital communications facilities. At present, Bayly's products operate at speeds up to 34 Mbps.
Analog voice and digital data interface technologies for termination of subscriber circuits.
Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) technology permitting Bayly products to be monitored and controlled using open architecture management platforms.
High Density Subscriber Line (HDSL) technology to provide increased bandwidth and transmission distances over subscriber telephone lines.
Bayly's products conform to both North American and International standards and are sold to telecom network operators worldwide.
Advanced Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) technology. In cooperation with Queen's University and the University of Ottawa, Bayly is developing advanced Digital Subscriber Line technology that will allow telephone companies to use existing copper networks to deliver high bandwidth services to consumers.

Bayly's E1 modems provide 2 MB transmission using ordinary copper cables. Transmission distances up to 6 kM can be achieved providing access for Internet users and other data transmission applications.
Bayly's OMNIBranch is a compact T1 or E1 digital cross-connect switch that provides channel routing, disaster recovery and time- of-day network re-configuration capabilities. The OMNIBranch provides economical edge-of-network access and termination solutions for leased-line, microwave or fibre-optic networks.
Customers report cost savings on T1/E1 lines of 50%, or more, when using OMNIBranch to consolidate traffic from several partially-loaded T1/E1 lines onto one fully-loaded line.
OMNIBranch is especially well suited to wireless network environments where it's compact size, all front access and temperature hardening make the unit ideal for deployment in wireless base stations.
OMNIFlex is a compact time division multiplex (TDM) T1 or E1 digital cross-connect and access platform. OMNIFlex is used to consolodate traffic from several partially-loaded T1 or E1 facilities onto one fully-loaded T1 or E1 facility. Customers report cost savings of 50%, or more, when using OMNIFlex to optimize networks. Interfaces include T1, E1, V.35, RS442/RS449/RS530 and V.11.
OMNIFlex is especialy well suited to wireless network environments where it's small size, all front access and temperature hardening make the product ideal for deployment in base station installations.
When installed in wireless base stations, OMNIFlex moves network optimization functions out to the edge of the network where significant cost savings and network simplification can take place. Cost savings of 50%, or more and payback periods as short a 2 months are realized.
Bayly's flagship product, Omniplexer, is a versatile digital voice/data multiplexer designed for operation in high capacity networks based on T1 (1.5 Mbps) and E1 (2 Mbps) transmission standards. Omniplexer can operate either as a simple multiplexer terminating a digital service and providing access to analog voice and digital data services, or as a network node supporting complex network architectures. Omniplexer features a network management system providing remote configuration, control and alarm reporting.
The Omniplexer provides economical voice/data channel access from leased-line, microwave or fibre-optic networks.
Bayly's OMNISkip is a 34 Mbps multiplexer for use in high- capacity. The OMNISkip provides transmission of up to 16 E1 (2MB) lines over microwave radio or optical fibre networks. The OMNISkip is the ideal solution for channelization of high capacity 34 MB facilities and 16 E1 (2 MB) transmission using optical-fiber systems.
