Colby & Associates (1992) is a management consulting and training company practiced in the design and delivery of customized competency-based instruction facilitating individual, team, and organizational development. With 20 years of 'hands on' Quality Management experience in roles such as Consultant, Director, CEO, Quality Manager, Quality Engineer, Auditor and Adult Educator, Barry's participated in company wide total quality assurance management programs. Programs involving many certified and enhanced quality systems integrating related regulations stressing health, safety and environment. These included coaching at all levels and direct involvement in the planning, implementation and maintenance of quality systems documentation, training, auditing, corrective and preventative actions, quality manuals, supplier, customer and regulatory requirements. In addition, Barry has facilitated or been a member of various teams chartered with mandates such as long range and strategic business planning, process management, organizational restructuring, internal and external audit, supplier assessment and selection, and continuous improvement.

Barry is a REGISTERED ISO 9000 SPECIALIST and a CERTIFIED RAB QUALITY SYSTEMS AUDITOR (Certifications recognized by the Standards Council of Canada.) and works with RVA and SCC accredited registrars. In addition, a Canadian Seed Institute Recognized Consultant and Accredited Assessor to Registered Seed Establishments, Accredited Seed Testing Laboratories, and Authorized Importers.

Through dedicated volunteer efforts, Barry has extensive involvement in Manitoba's, Saskatchewan's and Canada's quality movement, helping to initiate, found and participate in the Canada's and Manitoba Quality Month, the Manitoba Quality Network (QNET), the Manitoba Quality Awards, and the ASQ-Saskatchewan Section.

Barry is a senior member of the American Society for Quality, a Canadian Deputy Regional Director and a member of ASQ's Board of Directors, involved with Section Affairs, General Technical and Community Quality Councils. Also, a member of Red River College's Quality Program Advisory Committee, the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce's Sustainable Development Committee, the Canadian Association of Management Consultants (and Manitoba Executive) and the Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba.
