Atlantis Systems International is a global supplier of simulation and training systems for the international defence market and commercial aviation industry. The range of Atlantis' training solutions includes computer-based desktop systems, aircrew training devices, and simulation-based maintenance trainers both specific and generic, within a wide range of simulation fidelity.
Atlantis, founded in 1978, has supplied over a hundred sophisticated training systems to North American, European, Middle-Eastern, Asian and Australasian markets, most of which are still in daily use, actively supported by Atlantis facilities in Brampton, Ontario.
Maintenance training solutions have been a mainstay of Atlantis' business since incorporation, evolving from composite and frame trainers in the late 1970's, to panel trainers incorporating advanced simulation techniques in the 1980's and 1990's. In 2002, Atlantis was awarded a contract by Boeing St. Louis to create a new breed of maintenance training system, integrating virtual aircraft technology with high-fidelity aircraft hardware and simulated test equipment. Boeing, on behalf of the Royal Australian Air Force and Canadian Forces F/A-18 fleets, has procured 8 Integrated Maintenance Training Systems (IMTS), due for delivery in the late 2004 timeframe. Atlantis IMTS technology has already contributed to the selection of Atlantis to provide training equipment for the U. S. Navy's F/A-18 E and F model 'Super Hornet' via Boeing St. Louis.
Helicopter training solutions include cockpit procedures trainers, operational flight trainers, maintenance trainers and the VR-SIM. VR-SIM is a unique motion-based, reconfigurable simulator for high-precision helicopter training, such as deck landings in all-weather conditions, long-line and mountain operations. Originally developed by Defence Research & Development Canada, Atlantis continues development of the system, and markets VR-SIM to helicopter operators world-wide.
Atlantis' simulation-based Automated Pilot Selection System (APSS), developed in cooperation with the Canadian Department of National Defence, substantially reduces the overall cost of military pilot training through its non-subjective screening process. The system is in daily use by the Canadian DND and continues to reduce DND flight training costs through the improved candidate selection it offers.
Other defence systems include trainers for the EH-101, F-15E and F-15S, E-6A, H-46, and S-70 airframes. Atlantis also designs and builds avionics test equipment and simulated cockpit controls and displays for the simulation industry.
Atlantis has fielded over 50 training systems to the commercial aviation industry, supporting flight training programs for various transport airframes, including the Airbus A320 family, Boeing 737-300/400/500, Boeing 757/767, Boeing 747-400 and MD-82 series. Talantis has also fielded trainers supporting the Learjet 35, Challenger 601, Beech C-90A King Air, and Bell 206 Jetranger airframes.
In 2000, Atlantis' new executive team took preliminary steps to prepare the company for significant growth, and the company's name was changed to Atlantis Systems International (ASI) to reflect more accurately the nature of its operations. In June 2001, Atlantis Systems Corp., a publicly traded company, was formed as ASI's parent company. Atlantis Systems Corp. trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol AIQ. n May 2002, Atlantis' Quality Management System, which had been registered to ISO 9001 as early as 1995, was re-registered as meeting the new ISO 9001: 2000 standard. This makes Atlantis one of the first companies in the industry to achieve this distinction.
