Testimonial Letter from Michael Trantas, Neuronyx Inc. Joanna - I just wanted to write this e-mail to thank you and your staff for all of the excellent support they have given me in my process to purchase and install the Athena ASECard Crypto Integration Kit in my office. Jochi Fuchs made my decision and purchasing process about as simple as it gets. And, when I had a small issue installing the kit, your technical support staff quickly and efficiently helped me to solve the problem. Thanks for all of your help and I look forward to working with Athena in the future! Testimonial Letter - Mike Hindle, NRC Canada
Hi Joanna,
I would be more than happy to provide feedback, and I don't mind if you share my email and or answer any question to any of Athena's potential or existing customers. It has been a real pleasure. To start this whole journey, I was reading windows2000. net magazine, which I subscribe to. In this edition there was a list of smart card manufacturers and contact information. Athena was on the list. I was looking for a way to control access with Administrator(root) level accounts to Microsoft's Active Directory and viewed smart cards to be the most secure to implement. So with the list in hand, I started from the top and went to the bottom, contacting each of the venders via email and some via phone. Out the entire list, Athena was the only one that returned my email. Later, Jochi Fuchs graciously sent me a readerIII and 2 test cards. Setup instructions as well as software for the CSP and PIN Changer arrived promptly and timely fashion via email. After testing them and documenting for my implementation, it became apparent that the Athena smartcard Solutions was very easy to implement, administer and afford. Jochi advises that there is a new Canadian office, even thou it's in Toronto it's a good start: ) and provides me with Ms. Joanna Samuels contact information email-voice. Lobbying for the funds from my management, I received the go ahead to make an initial purchase of 6 IIIe readers, and 15cards. At this point I sent a formal quote request to Joanna Samuels. Joanna contacted me via phone prior whilst I was lobbying for funding so, I had already known her position and her contact information. It was very nice to hear a human on the vendor's end. My first impression of Joanna was the she is very eager to assist in anything Athena could provide that would meet my infrastructures needs and what she didn't have an answer for right away she made a note, and responded to me promptly with the correct answers. That level of service irregardless of the product is lacking these days. Upon receiving the well packed order, I was amassed to see the redesigned cards. I downloaded the software Jochi Fuchs setup on his ftp server and began to follow my documentation, although my documentation was based on the previous versions of Athena CSP setup's, the latest is actually easier and as always Athena builds msi packages to make installing software via Group Policy incredibly easy. MSI's are very much appreciated. Smart Card logon's take place through Remote Desktop on a fairly regular basis. We also use smart cards for IIS and mapping network drives. Since Drive IIIe is a compliant hardware device, windows will recognize this and modify the username, pwd dialogue to give the option to read from a smart card. Date of deployment was Dec 4/2003. The products, documentation, and buying process was very straight forward. It truly was painless and well organized. In Terms of technical support, the new Athena documentation from the newly designed and well planned out website (http: //www. athena-scs. com/pdf/ASEDrive, IIIe, Readers, 09-03. pdf) tells me everything I need to know and was used heavily during my deployment. I also can count on the email techsupport or the personal touch of Joanna and Jochi. To recap, my experiences with Athena Smart Card Solutions, Joanna Samuels, and Jochi Fuchs can be summed up by saying:
Athena's products exceeded my expectations that could only have been surpassed by Athena's technical and sales team's willingness to please.
