Ian Cook Construction implemented a Construction Solid Waste Management Plan designed by AET for the Lutherwood Communities Project in Waterloo, Canada. The plan resulted in an overall waste diverion of 76% through waste minimization, reuse, on-site source separation and recycling of construction bi-products. Ian Cook Construction was awarded an Outstanding Environmental Sustainability Award from the Recycling Council of Ontario for their environmental stewardship and management role on the Lutherwood Communities project.

The program set up by AET has been very effective on our site. Waste generated on our site is recycled and organized in a manner that makes safety issues as 'a tidy site is a safe site' very easy to notice. Trades know that if they supply a product, they are responsible for removal of waste generated from that product. AET in fact 'POLICE' this and it's one less thing to worry about, for the Site Superintendent and laborers. My laborers now have time to effectively keep other areas of a busy job site under control. Each lot also maintains a much neater appearance (ie. no longer a large garbage dumpster in front of a house). Our signs are a lot more noticeable, such as SOLD SIGNS or FOR SALE SIGNS. A clean site is a great way to advertise our commitment to excellence. AET is very flexible in scheduling and has the manpower to quickly get a house ready for various stages, especially when a house is under pressure from a scheduling standpoint. AET staff is very safety conscious and set an example for other trades.

Associated Environmental Technologies (AET) was retained by Monarch Construction Ltd. to provide environmental management services for the Doon Mills site in Kitchener, Ontario. A Construction Environmental Management Plan was designed, planned and implemented by AET to manage and monitor the wastes generated from project start to completion. The plan involved educating trades, minimizing wastes, reusing and recycling materials on site through source separation, and a monitoring program to report on non-conformances.

I have been very pleased with the excellent environmental management services your firm has provided Monarch over the years. Your staff has accommodated our often-demanding schedules, and have demonstrated a flexibility and commitment to meet required deadlines. AET always conducts business in a very professional, safe and ethical manner. You have provided unique practical solutions to divert 76% of our waste stream from landfills through waste minimization strategies, reuse and recycling options.

Your program has created a much cleaner, safer and efficient environment both on site and in the housing units, and has increased the environmental awareness of trades.
