Angels of Flight Canada Inc. is a Canadian owned and operated health care company that has specialized in the medical evacuation and inter-facility ground transportation of ill and injured persons both in Canada and around the world. Gail Courneyea, RN, president and CEO founded the company in 1988 to provide hospitals and air ambulance companies with qualified registered nurses to care for ill and injured persons during the between hospital phase of their care. It is the first Canadian company with extensively trained Registered Nurses specializing in patient transportation. The transportation personnel exceed Canadian hiring and training standards.
There are four divisions in the company, each operate under the direction of Angels of Flight Canada Inc. land medical transfer division (Ambu-Lans), worldwide medical transport, exodus academy of aeromedical studies, and call center for coordination of international medical evacuation.
- In 1988, Angels of Flight was founded and has arranged medical evacuation, provided transportation, and specialized registered nurses and medical teams to care for ill and injured persons on an emergency and non-emergency basis within Canada and around the world, meeting the ever increasing demand for medical transport. Our transport crews have extensive knowledge and experience in aeromedicine, aviation safety, wilderness and water survival, critical care, trauma, orthopedics, oncology, psychiatry, palliative care and oncology. Each team is selected to meet the needs of the patient.
- In 1993, Exodus Academy of Aeromedical Studies was formed and provides classroom and long distance specialized training to travelers, health care providers and aviation personal. Consultants in the medical and aviation industries to provide professional services in developing, researching and education in the specialized field.
- In 1995, ground service was added to the company two new land transfer vehicles to move persons between airports and to move patients privately contracted to appointments. Since 2001, six additional vehicles were purchased and fully equipped for medical transfers.
- In 1990, a Call Center for International Medical Transportation was set up to streamline the worldwide air flights. This centre offers current and possible future clients access to knowledgeable staff with a wealth of information and resources to triage and coordinate the movement of ill and injured persons across Canada or around the world.
- In 2003, changes in government control of interhospital medical transfers has opened up the opportunity for private transfer companies to compete in this health care field.

Trinidad - Developed a plan to evaluate and impliment procedures to improve the emergency medical services ( 14 ambulances bases, dispatch system). Evaluate the level of knowledge and training of the existing ambulance service, develop and provide training to 200 ambulance staff on the island - over a three year period. Set up all policies and procedures for quality assurance following the ISO 9001 module to ensure the service would continue to improve when the Consultant team left aft three years.
