Albarrie Canada manufacutres industrial non-woven fabrics used in many technical industries. Our primary business is industrial filtration with a focus on dry filtration. Albarrie Canada is also involved in the protective apparel business, aluminium extrusion industry, wet filtration, geotextile, waste containment and various other textile related businesses.
Environmental Profile
Albarrie is a fully Canadian-owned company with a history dating back to the 17 th century. It manufactures and markets a complete selection of woven and needle punched fabrics for air and water pollution control. Albarrie manufactures geotextiles for many difficult civil engineering problems.
Albarrie concentrates all of its efforts world wide to search out and meet the new and sometimes unforeseen needs of the industrial marketplace, both on its own, and in co-operation with companies all over the world. Albarrie has subsidiaries/partners in the United States, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Venezuela, Bolivia, Argentina, France, United Kingdom and Germany. Albarrie would like to identify potential partners/agents/converters to market its products in Benelux, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Russia, Ukraine and Poland.
The firm's continual research and development programs have enabled it to develop unique patented products. Its filtration fabrics include woven and nonwoven polyester, polypropylene, acrylic, nomex, ryton, fibreglass, teflon, 100% P84. A new generation of fabrics known as Albarrie composites has been developed. These fabrics have the capability to rectify dust collector problems such as high emission, low service life, high pressure drop, and low air flow rate. Albarrie's range of engineered fabrics employ the particular and special technological advantage of needled fabrics. These fabrics are being produced for sporting goods, fire resistant jackets, bullet proof vests for police, and gloves for construction workers. Bentofix is now being manufactured by a joint venture between GSE of the United States, Naue Fasertechnik of Germany and Terrafix of Canada. Bentofix is used to provide a positive barrier to liquids and gases for a variety of applications. This joint venture has brought Albarrie to the forefront of the geosynthetic manufacturing industry.

Albarrie composite filter media are comprised of polyimide fibers in the upper layer and conventional fibers like polyester and aramid in the lower layer. The non-uniform structure of the polyimide fiber leads to much smaller distances between groups of fibers. Albarrie composite filter media are therefore able to remove even very small particles from gaseous streams.
By trapping the particles on the surface of the polyimide fibers, Albarrie composites are able to generate lower pressure drop, which leads to reduced amount of energy used for cleaning the filter media. The surface filtration phenomenon also allows operation at higher velocities, enabling building of smaller dust collectors.
Albarrie composite filter media have been used to reduce emissions and bring operators into compliance at cement, steel, waste to energy, secondary lead smelters, and several other industrial facilities around the world. For example, a stack monitor at a catalyst manufacturing plant in the United States showed an emission level of 1.7 mg/m3 for an average particle size of 0.4 m. The filter medium has achieved service life of more than two years. This was a facility where a membrane-laminated filter lasted only 6 months, due to abrasion.
Albarrie composite achieved emission levels of less than 3 mg/m3 at a waste to energy facility. Emission levels at the same facility were much higher when teflon, needled fibreglass and other filter media were employed.
After consulting with an end user engineering firm, Albarrie will guarantee emission performance levels for most dust collector applications.
