Agronomix Software, Inc. is a software development company established in 1990 to provide specialized PC database management and analysis software for plant breeders and agronomists in general. Agronomix Software, Inc., is a 100% Canadian company incorporated under the laws of the province of Manitoba. Located as of May 1997 in its own building in Winnipeg, MB, at 171 Waterloo St.
The current main effort of the company is the on-going development and support of AGROBASE TM, now being used by plant breeders and agronomists in over 60 countries worldwide.
Dr. D. K. Mulitze (PhD, University of Saskatchewan, 1983, Quantitative Genetics in the Department of Crop Science and Plant Ecology) is the president of the company. The development of AGROBASE capitalized on Dr. Mulitze's experience in developing mainframe plant breeding software systems at the University of Guelph (The Wheat Data Base System, 1978, written in PL/I for the IBM 360) and the University of Saskatchewan (The Crop Data Base System, written in BASIC +2 for the DEC 2060). A post-doctoral appointment (1984-86) with the Cereal Improvement Program, ICARDA, Aleppo, Syria, and an assistant/associate professor appointment (1986-90) with the Agronomy Department, University of Nebraska, as a cereal breeder at the MIAC/USAID/INRA Project in Settat, Morocco, reinforced the need for an integrated, comprehensive PC-based software package developed specifically for plant breeders and agronomists.
