Adtek Photomask Inc., located in Montreal, Quebec, is the only independent photomasking facility in Canada, occupying a unique position in the Canadian microelectronics scene. Since its inception in 1980, Adtek has established a commendable reputation for producing quality complex photomasks for the global semiconductor industry, Canadian and American universities, and government research laboratories.
The company's facility has industry standard clean rooms needed to house the computer-controlled micro pattern generators and other mask-making and CAD/CAM equipment. Photomasks produced at Adtek are used in the manufacturing of semi-conductor devices, with a niche market in optoelectronics and fibreoptic applications.
With a conventional optical pattern generation system, a pattern is formed by fracturing the data into rectangular flashes and in turn exposing these flashes, one at a time. It is similar to putting a large number of LEGO pieces to form the final circuit.
As well as producing quality optical photomasks Adtek offers E. Beam and Laserwrite technology. The majority of 5x reticles used in semi-conductor manufacturing are generated by E. Beam or Laserwrite systems, the only methods available for rapid complex reticle generation.
