World Access Inc. was founded in 1983 in Washington, D. C. The World Access Canada sales office was founded in Waterloo, Ontario in 1988. By establishing a Canadian office, WAC was in the position to address the out-of-country medical insurance needs of major Canadian insurers such as Manulife and the Mutual Group.
A full-service bilingual 7 day x 24 hour emergency medical assistance call centre, claims payment and recovery centre was established at the Waterloo site in August of 1992. While autonomous from its sister companies in the United States, The Canadian operation has continued to experience growth in revenues and personnel in the ensuing years. Today, World Access Canada employs over 200 associates in its 27, 000 square foot facility. World Access Canada processes in excess of 14, 000 medical cases annually and handles in excess of 750, 000 inbound calls per year.
World Access Canada is a privately held company which is a subsidiary of the World Access Group of companies. World Access Group remains a privately held company with total annual group revenues in excess of US 100 million.
