Wanuskewin Heritage Park
Wanuskewin Heritage Park, in Saskatchewan, invites people to come
and learn about the history and culture of Northern Plains
Aboriginal peoples. The variety of indoor and outdoor sites and
activities teach the guests about 6,000 years of the Northern
Plains Indians history.
Wanuskewin Heritage Park has nine kilometres of walking trails.
On these trails, visitors can see archaeological digs in
progress, a medicine wheel, tipi rings, bison jumps, habitation
sites and more. Nineteen pre-contact sites have been discovered
in the park making Wanuskewin a true historic travel adventure.
In the main exhibit hall, more than six thousand years of history
come to life - history you can touch, through interactive
exhibits and computer activated displays. The theatres offer
multi-media shows through which visitors can explore the
archaeology, history, natural beauty, and spirituality of
Wanuskewin. An art gallery features contemporary art from
Indigenous cultures from around the world. If entertainment is
more your style, then sit back and enjoy the many talented First
Nations entertainers and artists. See traditional to
contemporary dances as well as Aboriginal arts and
crafts demonstrations. If you're hungry, try some traditional
Native food in the restaurant, and then take home a memory by
purchasing authentic First Nations merhandise at the gift shop.
Wanuskewin also provides meeting and catering facilities which
are designed to reflect the natural beauty and human history
that surrounds it. Our award winning facility offers all the
modern conveniences and personal service that ensure successful
meetings and social events.
