The Virden-Wallace Economic Development Board was established in 1988 with a mandate for sustainable economic development and representation at the local community level. In 1996, the Board changed its name and focus, with the introduction of the Community Works Loans Program to officially become the Virden-Wallace Community Development Corporation. The Board consists of a group of volunteers and is sponsored by the Town of Virden and the Rural Municipality of Wallace. Additional financial and informational support also comes from the Virden and District Chamber of Commerce. An Economic Development officer is employed by the Board and is responsible for the facilitation of the mandate and objectives of the Corporation. Responsibilities of the Corporation, include:
