Upside software manufactures and sells software focused on
electronic billing, expense claim management, and contract
management. Our solutions are completely web-based and have been
designed from the ground up to operate in an ASP environment.
Electronic Billing (incoming)
Upside Billing was originally designed to process large volumes
of incoming invoices for large public and private sector
organizations. Using a hands-off approach, the system enables
the definition of business rules that are applied to bulls and
invoices received from suppliers to identify exceptions that
require human review and/or approval. If exceptions are
encountered, our workflow management process manages the routing
of the invoice to the appropriate people in the appropriate
order. Our approach to systems integration enables easy
connection with general ledger and accounts payable systems, and
with billing data feeds from larger suppliers.
We also make it easy for small business to get into electronic
billing by providing a manual entry interface and providing
downloadable templates which can be populated off-line and then
uploaded. We also have the ability to process standard file
formats for invoices/bills which can be exported out of most
small business accounting packages.
Electronic Billing (outgoing)
Our outgoing solution provides an interesting value proposition
for both small business billers and the portal itself. The
approach is for the biller to sponsor his customers use of the
system, providing the customers the functionality to automate
the processing of the bills they get from the one supplier. The
system can either be hosted in an ASP environment or run by the
biller in their IT environment.
In an ASP of portal environment, once a customer gets
comfortable with using this functionality which will save them
a lot of time, effort and cost they will become potential
customers for the portal for subscription to the functions to
process all of their incoming bulls in the same manner.
We add benefits for the biller by leveraging our business rules
engine to enable automated quality control on billing and to
enable rule-based billing updates such as volume or customer-
specific discounts. And we integrate with account receivables to
update the expected amount due in these cases.

Expense Claim Management
In any organization where employees or other stakeholders incur
reimbursable business expenses an effective and efficient
expense claim management system is required.
Our solution provides an easy to use, yet robust front-end
expense claim entry interface that also includes web based
scanning capabilities to be able to scan and attach receipts to
a claim. We then leverage the same business rules engine and
workflow management capabilities to minimize the effort required
to review and approve the expense claims. As with Upside
Billing, integration with accounts payable automates the payment
to the claimant.

Contract Management
Our template driven, web based contract management sy6stem
enables simple, but well managed creation and management of RFPs
and contracts. We have built in capabilities required to manage
the contracting process from beginning to end including the
management of risk, budget and forecasting, vendor compliance
and event notification such as renewal or re-tendering.
Our business rules and workflow management offer value by
automating he management of the contract creation and management
process, allowing a senior contract management to easily manage
a large group of subordinates while ensuring the highest
standards of quality and consistency in their contracts.
In a portal environment we enable cross-organizational
participation. A proposed change to a legal clause in a contract
could be routed to a lawyer in another firm for review, comment
and/or approval. This opens up some interesting possibilities by
offering service matching services if the user doesnt have a
lawyer but they want advice on a contract component the portal
can refer them, automatically, to an approved (and subscribing)
lawyer.
