UMA Technology Systems
UMA Geomatics is a Division of UMA Engineering Ltd.,
a multidisciplinary consulting member of the UMA Group. UMA
Geomatics has supplied specialized services in the geomatics
sector for over twenty-five years.
Overseas offices for the UMA Group are established on a project
basis and have included such countries as Antigua, Armenia,
Barbados, China, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, India,
Malaysia, Mauritius, Mexico, Moldova, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia,
St. Vincent, Tanzania, Thailand, Ukraine, Venezuela, Zambia,
and Zimbabwe. The main office for UMA Geomatics is located in
Edmonton, Alberta and serves clients through the numerous
branches of UMA Engineering Ltd.
The UMA Group includes professional, technical and administrative
staff that are involved in geomatics activities such as
Geographic Information Systems services, digital mapping,
photogrammetry and surveying.
On a project basis, UMA Geomatics draws upon support from civil,
commercial/industrial and environmental engineers, planners,
economists, lawyers and other experts within the UMA Group of
companies.

Implementation of a land information
management project in Ukraine The project
involved the creation of property maps, and
the development of an automated land registry
and management system. Key components of the
project included government and public
consultation, legislative review, skill and
technology transfer.
Project appraisal, preparation missions and
study tours These activities were performed
for the World Bank, in support of the
development of a land titling/ registration
project in Azerbaijan.
Implementation of a real estate and property
information system in the Republic of Armenia
The project provides legal, institutional
and technical (systems integration, mapping,
GIS) support for the development of an
automated property registration system and
national cadastre.
Implementation of the First Cadastre Project
for the Republic of Moldova This project
involves the development of an automated
national land registration and legal cadastre
system.
Development of the automated Community Lands
Information System for the Government of the
Northwest Territories.
Digital base mapping for Alberta Government
agencies at 1:20,000 and 1:5,000 scales.
Digital cadastral base mapping for the
Province of Saskatchewan.
Aerotriangulation for the digital base
mapping of Trinidad and Tobago.
Mapping services, air photography, digital
orthophoto and digital terrain models for
resource-based clients in Canada and South
America.
GIS consulting services, including strategic
planning, feasibility studies, business area
analysis, system design, development and
implementation. Various vendors supported
include: MicroStation, ARC/INFO, CARIS and
MapInfo.
