Transform Compost Systems Ltd.

Transform Compost Systems provides environmentally sustainable and cost effective organic waste management technology. This company was initiated in 1998. Transform Compost Systems has successfully commercialized their in-vessel composting technology and the portable compost turner for in-vessel systems. The president of the company, John Paul, holds a Ph.D. in soil fertility/waste management and has more than 15 years of experience with organic waste management. He is internationally recognized for his work on composting, environmental impacts of waste management and nutrient recycling. Transform Compost Systems has strategic alliances with other leading Canadian companies that provide high quality building and equipment components. The experience, expertise and linkages allows Transform to be a leader in providing cost effective, environmentally sustainable composting technology.

The composting technology offered by Transform provides an environmentally sustainable solution to the organic waste problem faced in many countries. It is an environmentally sustainable solution in that it reduces the amount of waste going to landfill, processes this waste without polluting the soil, air or water, and provides an stable organic product that can be used to improve soil productivity and increase plant production. The nutrients in the compost and fertilizer products that are produced reduce the dependence on chemical fertilizer.

Transform's composting technology is a climate change friendly technology achieved by reducing methane emission from landfills through diversion of the organic waste that would otherwise produce methane. The recycling of nutrients required by plants decreases the dependency on chemical fertilizers, the production of which is an energy intensive process. Transform has been involved with a research program at the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada on emissions of methane and nitrous oxide during composting of animal manures.

Transform has been involved with research and development on composting of pulp sludge from a chemi-thermal-mechanical pulping process. They have been able to compost this material at 70% moisture content without bulking agent in an in-vessel compost facility. The process was complete within four weeks. The composted sludge demonstrated potential as a peat moss replacement in growing media for plants.

The export countries that Transform is interested in providing composting expertise and marketing equipment includes Asia, North and South America and Africa. The business approach taken by Transform is through direct sales, or through strategic alliances with other companies or organizations to help deliver composting solutions.

Design And Construction Of Turn-key In-vessel Composting Facilities And Formulation Of High Quality Plant Products From Composted Waste.
Transform Compost Systems provides turn-key in-vessel composting facilities for animal manure, food processing waste, pulp or papermill sludge, or municipal organic waste. The in-vessel systems optimize the use of aeration and turning to provide a high quality composted product in a period of five to eight weeks. The process can be fully automated. The systems can be fully enclosed and can be equipped with ammonia scrubbers and a biofilter where required. Although Transform encourages composting of source separated waste because it increases the quality of the compost, we work with other reputable Canadian companies that supply the separating equipment for unseparated municipal waste. Uncompostables are separated from the waste. The compostable waste is shredded before composting. Raw organic waste is placed in one end of the concrete composting channels. The waste is aerated to maintain temperatures of 55 to 75 oC. It is mixed and moved along the channels using an in-vessel compost turner. Transform Compost Systems markets an in-vessel compost turner. This turner allows the benefit of both aeration and turning and full process control in an in-vessel system. The turners are hydraulically driven and powered by a diesel engine. The turners are operated with remote control and can be fully automated. Electric motors are also available for these turners. Transform's composting technology is a climate change friendly technology achieved by reducing methane emission from landfills through diversion of the organic waste that would otherwise produce methane. The recycling of nutrients required by plants decreases the dependency on chemical fertilizers, the production of which is an energy intensive process. Transform is currently involved with a research program at the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada on em issions of methane and nitrous oxide during composting of animal manures.
