Three-D GeoConsultants Ltd. was founded in 1981 to provide professional geological services to a range of disciplines. The company offers services to the mining, oil and gas, rock products and environment industries, to engineers, planners, developers and entrepreneurs, as well as to all levels of government on both technical and regulatory matters. Since 1989 the firm has been involved in the application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology to its various business endeavours. That involvement has steadily increased each year to the point where Three-D now supports its GIS activities with two full time staff members, a programmer/analyst and a specialist/operator.
Systems in place consist of a PC WorkStation supporting a 3' x 4' digitizing table and a 36"inkjet plotter; the WorkStation is linked to a 72 Gbyte, 512Mb, Pentium II 400 PC. Software consists of CARIS (PC), CARIS Access for Windows, dBase, Visual Basic, Corel Suite 8 & 2000 and Microsoft Office 97. In addition to supporting its consulting and contracting work, GIS at Three-D also consists of the in-house development of PC-based GIS software products aimed at the management of fruit orchards, field crops, peatlands and rock quarries.

Wetland resources and hydrology systems are assessed on existing operation or virgin wetlands to enable its development through proper drainage planning, including outflow design to minimize impacts. Through developed computer modelling techniques such aspects as resource evaluation, vegetation surveys for rare species, aquatic survey, both vertebrate and invertebrate are incorporated into development planning and drainage planning to meet standards during development and subsequent operation. The resultant plans and data can be incorporated into a SID wetland management system to continuously monitor all aspects of development, operations and environmental monitoring.
The provision of a turn-key services allow for assessment removal and supervision of mineral processing site contamination. The scope of the services include the research of operating history, surveillance and sampling of the site, and the preparation of remedial action plans in accordance with local or territorial compliance. The follow up includes the tendering and supervision of the contaminant removal along with a final evaluation of the site after remediation. Work is done in cooperation with local or territorial authorities in order to ensure that standards and regulations are met. Local qualified contractors and laboratories with independent checks and balances are also used. Close ties are held with the client, with weekly, monthly and final reports. Result oriented.
