TORR Canada Inc.
EARTH (Canada) Corporation has developed a revolutionary
technology in the area of oil/water separation. TORR (TM)(Total
Oil Remediation and Recovery) removes and recovers free-floating
oil and oil emulsions 2 microns and greater. The recovered
hydrocarbon can be recycled or reused. The water is treated to
well within environmental guidelines. TORR removes and recovers
hydrocarbon emulsions 2 microns and greater with no additional
heat or chemicals.

Torr(tm) (total Oil Remediation And Recovery) Technology
TORR(TM) will remove and recover tramp oil and other non-soluble hydrocarbon contaminants from fluids. Hydrocarbon emulsions 2 microns and larger will be removed and recovered allowing extended life of Metal Working Fluids and Degreasing Fluids therfore saving on chemicals, de-ionized water and effluent disposal costs.
Torr(tm) (total Oil Remediation And Recovery) Technology.
TORR(TM) separates and recovers non-soluble hydrocarbon emulsions 2 microns and greater from produced waters. Treated water can reach non-detectible concentrations allowing O&P operational cost reductions for produced water reinjection. Costly workovers are greatly reduced. Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) operations are maximized and oil production is enhanced.
Rpa(r) (reusable Petroleum Absorbent)
RPA(R) (Reusable Petroleum Absorbent) is a unique thermoset polymeric material backbone. It is unique because: it does not require disposal; it allows recoverability of sorbed oil for further refining or secondary use; through centrifugation, it is probably the only truly reusable hydrocarbon adsorbent - reusable 100+ times. RPA(R) is hydrophobic, does not leach, is non-toxic and floats on water even when saturated. RPA(R) is available in particulate form or is encased as RecovrOil(R) products in polypropylene fabric in the form of pillows, socks and mattresses in accordance with customers' requirements. For oily water filtration applications, RPA(R) is available in Filtration Drums and TORR(TM) for continuous water treatment requirements.
During 1997 and following several months of intensive product research, one of the world's largest national oil companies, Petrobras in Brazil, purchased RPATM for water filtration of oil-contaminated water from off-shore drilling and spill clean-up. Last year, an industrial wastewater treatment company began to use RPATM for removal of oil & grease from their effluent water. At the present time, there are several Canadian, US and international companies testing RPA products on real life applications. These applications include the capture of leaking transformer oils and the prevention of their ultimate runoff into storm drains, the use of RPATM for the treatment of bilge water and the removal of oil from oil-in-water emulsions. This latter application is a far more complex task than that of absorbing free oils. Ongoing trials show that filtration with RPATM results in significant reductions in total oil & grease levels even where these oils are emulsified.
Last summer, the Ville de Montreal began to use RPATM-filled mattresses when cleaning their road-asphalting equipment with diesel oil thus 'helping overcome a local environmental problem by keeping city-spilled diesel fuel out of Montreal's sewer system'.
More recently, the Aeroport de Montreal used a system provided by EARTH for oily water filtration at their fire-fighting training centre at Mirabel.
